Allergies & Asthma: How Can You Find Relief?

Allergies occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance that has made its way into your body. This reaction could be from pollen, mold, or dust.

Allergies can occur all year round but are typically most evident during the spring months. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, there are an estimated 50 million Americans who suffer from allergies.

Asthma occurs when you have inflammation in your air passages that results in the narrowing of the airways that transport oxygen from your nose and mouth to your lungs. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, wheezing, coughing and tightness in the chest. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the current number of adults suffering from asthma is 18.7 million.

What is being done to try to bring awareness to and help end unnecessary deaths and suffering from allergies and asthma?

Chief Executive Officer of Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics, Tonya Winders, joins Dr. Mike to discuss what the Allergy and Asthma Network has been working on in order to help you ease your asthma and allergy symptoms.
